LATEST UPDATE (October 2008):
mouldCAM has recently completed the moulds for Riviera’s newest sports yacht, the luxury 5800SY, including a unique push-button electric sunroof and ultra-sleek hull with bonded glass windows.
The 5800SY will be a luxury boat beyond anything built by Riviera previously, and mouldCAM were once again entrusted by Riviera to cut the series of complex moulds required. Designed exclusively using Riviera’s new NX CAD software system, the moulds were CNC computer-cut at mouldCAM’s Brisbane production facility to almost 100% accuracy.
The hull has been constructed using infusion moulding technology rather than the traditional lay-up of fiberglass and resin. The benefit of this tehnique? Consistent hull thickness, reduced hull weight and greater strength. This system was first used on the successful build of the award-winning Riviera 4400SY.
The Riviera 5800SY is due for release at the 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in Queensland, Australia.

When mouldCAM knocked on the door at Riviera, Australia's leading manufacturer of luxury motor sports yachts and sports fishing boats now delivering more than 350 vessels a year, it wasn't to know that things were changing in the business. Following a management buyout assisted by Gresham Private Equity in 2002, management was looking at how things could be done better, smarter, faster.
The first challenge from this client was for a complex 'new concept' dashboard... easy... next a deck for their new 70'... no problems... mouldCAM quickly demonstrated the benefits of speed and build quality that was helping put Riviera’s vision into reality, sooner. Riviera had embraced the technology of CAM (Computer Assisted Manufacturing) and mouldCAM was able to deliver complex moulds without size limitation for the first time in Australia.
Riviera's customer focus involves listening to what the market wants through detailed customer research. Delivering the results meant exploiting the innovations that mouldCAM’s approach to tooling, modularity of components, integrating surfaces and holding an experience bank in the production computer could now deliver.
Today mouldCAM is working as part of the Riviera team to develop new models such as the innovative Riviera 56 and 4700 Sport Yacht in a relatively short development time, not the years of past methods.
"We've been working with mouldCAM since 2003 and continue to be impressed not only by the quality of their moulds but their ability to come up with innovative solutions to our needs. Each one of our new models will have many interconnecting moulds that must not only fit perfectly, but also maintain the perfect curves and lines that are characteristic of a Riviera.
